Self-Isolation (Day 4)

March 18, 2020

I woke up thinking I have to get my act together. You see, I am not exactly super active mama. I’m couch potato mama (as per my last post). Don't get me wrong, I love being couch potato mama, but, the kids don't. This is going to be a long quarantine period, so I might as well do stuff. You can say desperate times call for desperate... ummm...things.

So, today we had a nice full breakfast and played with water, outside in the yard. See. I got off the couch and sat on the bench. 😁

In the afternoon we packed up snacks, and headed to Nottingham Park that’s around 6 minutes away from our place. Six minutes by bike that is. Thia and I biked, while the boys sat in the trailer behind me. Once we got to the park, Alex hopped out and ran around like he’d never been in open space before. Dude. It’s only Day 4 of this self-isolation deal.

Of course, before heading out I gave the kids a lecture about how they were not allowed to touch anything outdoors. Not the traffic light button to cross the street. Not the water fountain. Not the park benches. Nothing. They looked at me like I was a little crazy and kept asking Why? Why? Obviously, we’d already talked about the virus over the last couple of days and I even did that Facebook experiment with soap and pepper to drive the point home. But kids are forgetful and need constant reminders, especially with something so novel to them. (Yes, pun intended.)

Freedom!

They did great at the park. They followed all the rules. And more importantly, they had fun 🙂 We will come again!
