I love cooking on gas-top stoves because I have a visual on the amount of heat I'm using to cook. My food is just better cooked on gas. A major concern though, is that not all gas-stoves come with built-in safety. It's often easy for kids to play around with the stove knobs leading to a serious and possibly fatal gas leak. And so, the minute my baby could pull himself up to stand, I did a quick online search and got us some Safety-First stove knob covers.
These gas stove knob covers come in a pack of 5, and are widely available. I got ours from Target —> here.
The knob covers have stood the test of time. In a year and half of trial and error my toddler still hasn't been able to figure them out.
In addition,
- They are so easy to install.
- They have no visible signs of wear and tear in one and a half years.
- They are easy to clean with some soapy water.
- The plastic didn't melt with high heat!
Safety First also produces cabinet and drawer latches that I couldn't have survived my older-kids' toddler years without! Difficult enough for my toddler, and easy enough for my 5-year-old to unlock. Now, if only they made locks to prevent me from snacking in the pantry!
